Revise and Update Your Will

Is your will an up-to-date, contemporary planning tool ready for use at the appropriate time? Without regular review and updating, outdated wills may create confusion and needless expense for surviving family and friends.

Below are typical reasons that usually require will modification:

  • Marriage
  • Birth of a child or grandchild
  • A child reaching adulthood
  • Divorce
  • Death of a spouse
  • Change of value of your assets
  • Acquisition of new assets
  • Death of a beneficiary
  • Changes in the needs of your beneficiaries
  • An executor or trustee dies, moves or becomes disabled
  • You move to a different state
  • Purchase or sale of real estate
  • Decision to make additional bequests, such as a gift for the future support of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton Foundation

Annual will review assures currency. Have your lawyer review your will every two to three years.
