"Youth in Medicine" Offers Internships & Scholarships to Hamilton Juniors (4/8/2009)

HAMILTON, NEW JERSEY - The Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton Foundation is accepting applications for The Fruscione Foundation Youth in Medicine internship and scholarship. Hamilton Township residents who have demonstrated an interest in science and/or have a record of academic achievement, and who are interested in medicine and/or the healthcare profession are encouraged to apply. Applicants should be in their junior year at a secondary public or parochial school in Mercer County.

By May 1, applicants must submit:

• a one-page essay about him/herself or about someone or something that has made an impact on his/her life
• a current academic transcript
• a resume, and
• a recommendation from a math or science teacher, principal or guidance counselor.

As a condition of accepting the scholarship, the recipient will receive a two-week internship at RWJ Hamilton to reflect their personal interests. Upon completing the internship, a $2,000 tuition scholarship will be awarded.

Endowed at RWJ Hamilton in 1996, the Fruscione Foundation Youth in Medicine internship and scholarship was designed to introduce high school students to career opportunities within the medical and/or healthcare professions.
